Blood parameters and enzymatic and oxidative activity in the liver of chickens fed with calcium anacardate Rev. Ciênc. Agron.
Cruz,Carlos Eduardo Braga; Freitas,Ednardo Rodrigues; Braz,Nádia de Melo; Salles,Rosa Patrícia Ramos; Silva,Isaac Neto Gomes da.
ABSTRACT The aim of this research was to evaluate the inclusion of calcium anacardate (CAC) as a source of anacardic acid in the diet of broiler chickens on blood parameters, and enzymatic and oxidative activity in the liver. A total of 840 male chicks, one day old, were kept in a completely randomised experimental design, with six treatments and seven replications of 20 birds, totalling 140 birds per treatment. The treatments consisted of feed without the addition of growth promoter (GP), feed with GP, and feed with no GP and the addition of CAC at levels of 0.25, 0.50, 0.75 and 1%. The biochemical blood variables to be analysed were uric acid, total cholesterol, HDL, LDL, creatinine, AST, ALT, triglycerides, total erythrocytes, haemoglobin, haematocrit,...

Calcium anacardate as growth promoter for piglets at the nursery phase PAB
Matos,Amanda Veruska Silva de; Watanabe,Pedro Henrique; Freitas,Ednardo Rodrigues; Santos,Kassia Moreira; Araújo,Lina Raquel Santos; Nepomuceno,Rafael Carlos; Vieira,Alini Mari; Vieira,Eloisa Helena Mendes.
Abstract: The objective of this work was to evaluate the effects of the dietary inclusion of calcium anacardate on the performance, diarrhea incidence, blood parameters, intestinal morphometry, and pH of gastrointestinal contents in piglets from 21 to 42 days of age. Sixty weaned Topigs piglets, with initial weight of 6.049±0.311 kg, were distributed in the following treatments: diet with or without antibiotic growth promoter (zinc bacitracin) and diets supplemented with increasing levels of calcium anacardate (0.4, 0.8, and 1.2%), with six replicates and two animals per experimental unit. No differences in performance (21 to 42 days of age), blood parameters, and villus height:crypt depth ratio were found between piglets fed diets containing calcium...

Cashew nut shell liquid and formulation: toxicity during the germination of lettuce, tomato seeds and coffee senna and seedling formation Agronomy
Matias, Rosemary; Rosa, Ana Carolina; Oliveira, Ademir Kleber Morbeck; Pereira, Kelly Cristina Lacerda; Rizzi, Elvia Silvia; Machado, Alexandre Alves.
Cashew (Anacardium occidentale) nut shell liquid (CNSL) has been successfully used in trials as an Aedes aegypti larvicide, but little is known about its environmental effects. In this study, the potential effects of CNSL and a CNSL-based phyto-product formulation on the germination and growth of Lactuca sativa (lettuce), Lycopersicon esculentum (tomato) and Senna obtusifolia (coffee senna) were assessed. The pH of CNSL and the formulation were 6.4 and 6.8, respectively; the electrical conductivities were 2.89 μS cm-1 (CNSL) and 2.21 μS cm-1 (formulation), respectively, and both contained anacardic acid (53.2%) and degradation products. In bioassays for germination and growth, CNSL (25, 50, 100, 150, and 200 mg mL-1), the formulation (100 mg mL-1) and the...
